In a nation that forever demands bigger, more, better, faster, Mark McGwire is now a name, and an event, to be remembered. On September 7, 1998, McGwire secured himself a place in baseball history when he broke Roger Maris’s 37-year old record of 61 home runs in a single season. This recent accomplishment should not be diminished in anyway, shape, or form, because of his use of muscle-building supplements. Like many other athletes, McGwire takes pills before he works out in order to give him a better “pump.” His pill of choice is Androstenedione 100, a unique supplement that raises the body’s testosterone level by over 337%. It has been called the most effective testosterone elevating substance to date. When you take Androstenedione 100, an enzyme in the liver acts on the molecular structure of androstenedione, and through this one reaction converts it to testosterone. It won’t convert to estrogen, like some supplements, and it will not suppress the body’s natural testosterone production. Also, Androstenedione won’t damage the liver, unlike the muscle-building supplement Creatine. You’ll notice that for his entire at-bat, no one is sitting down. They all remain standing until the at-bat is over, clapping and cheering him on, hoping that they might see #25 send a ball sailing over the fence into the left field stands. “Now there’s a reason to come back to baseball,” said Sherry Irby, a pharmacist from Florence, Alabama, who drove all night with her husband and two young sons to see a McGwire at-bat. They set up shop on cardboard mats in the outfield standing-room-only section. Sherry’s husband Ken expressed his admiration for McGwire when he remarked, “Good role models are few and far between for kids.” The appreciation for Mark McGwire is evident in people of all ages. “Baseball sort of lost its way. Mark McGwire is doing a great job for the game,” said Bob Edmiston, 87, who has been attendin... This is not the end of the termpaper! Register below to see the complete version of this term paper.
