Creation/Evolution Debate
Authors: Ron L. Rivers & John W. Klotz.
Summary:
This article is mainly discussing the ideas of Creation and Evolution. The authors
Take the side of creation. According to the idea’s of Evolution, the way things are now
have evolved from the way they were in the past. The authors go on to explain how this is
wrong because there has never been fossils found of anything in the middle of evolving.
Take the idea that dinosaurs evolved into birds for example. There was never a fossil
found of dinosaurs with feathers. They go on to explain how there is 3 ways of looking at
how the universe was created:
1. All of this matter and energy came into being on its own, that is, spontaneously;
2. All of this matter and energy has always existed, that is, it is eternal; or,
3. “In the beginning God created...” (Gen. 1:1)
None of these explanations is “scientific.” They go on to ask which one would
you choose? All matter and energy came about spontaneously? All of it has always
existed and has no origin? Or all of it came into being by an act of the Creator?
Reaction:
I agree with what the authors are writing. It makes more since that God created
the universe than any other ideas. The creation story is very important to the Christian
faith. The reason God sent his Son to save us was because of the sin we had since the
beginning. “Our first parents chose to disobey God, and their action, together with the
transgressions of all their descendants, made redemption necessary. God in His mercy
sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem all men from the consequences of their
transgressions. So the Scriptural account of redemption depends on the Scriptural
account of creation and the Fall.” (John W. Klotz) Another idea that I agree with that the
author expressed is the importance of teaching kids the creation story in school. If they
are going to be taught something that cannot be proven, I think it is important that they
learn both creation and evolution so that they can make a decision on their own.

What Is Darwinism?
Phillip E. Johnson
Summary:
This article explains that Darwinian theory tells us how a certain amount of
diversity in life forms can develop once various types of complex living organisms are
already in existence. If a small population of birds happens to migrate to an isolated
island, for example, a combination of inbreeding, mutation, and natural sele
