  Atticus once told Jem and Scout "…remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."  Miss Mollie then told them "mockingbirds don't one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird."  People can be "mockingbirds".  People that only do good thing can be "killed" like a mockingbird.  This, too, is a sin.  In To Kill A Mockingbird there were several examples of "mockingbirds".  Dill, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley are just a few of the many "mockingbirds" portrayed in this book.

Dill is an example of a "mockingbird". He was just an innocent eight-year-old boy; yet, no one really paid any attention to him.  He was passed along between family members.  His mother and stepfather never paid him any attention.  When he ran away to stay with Scout he told her "they stayed gone all the time, and when they were home, even then they'd go off in a room by themselves."  He was a mockingbird because all he ever wanted was for someone to love him and want him around.

Tom Robinson is another example of a "mockingbird".  All Tom ever did was try to help people.  Some people hated him anyway, simply because he was black.  Tom was often discriminated against.  Bob Ewell accused Tom of a crime, which was obvious he did not commit.  Still, he was found guilty.  It w...
