     For this article I decided to choose a subject that was not necessarily on the list but that interested me none the less, equitable education.  The article starts out by first saying that equity is fairness or impartiality.  They then have a little bit on what the national standards say that equity is.  The main focus of this first part of the article is on how girls are not usually treated equitable in the science classroom.  The article states that when students are in lower elementary grades all students (boys and girls) share equally in the learning of science.  Then, as they move further along they develop low self-esteem about their abilities in science and thus become turned off to learning it.
     The next part of the article then goes into about how assessments are sometimes made with biases in them (not intentionally).  The author says that often times there are ethnic biases built into tests that would make it so students from certain backgrounds would not be able to answer the question even if they were to know the answer.  The last part of this section says that it is up to the teacher to try to rid their assessments of parts that would be bias to any student.  
     Next, the article goes into how it is the responsibility of the school district to allocate funds so that the teacher will have resources available to teach their lessons adequately.  The final section in the article...
