There are many struggles with power which occur in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible.  One of the most important power struggles involved the Israelites and the Egyptians in a fight for liberation of God's people.  " I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt . . .  I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians." ( Division of Christian Education of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States of America, Holy Bible,
Revised Standard Version, Book of Exodus, Chapter 3: Verses 7 - 8 ).
The liberation of the Israelites from Egypt began with a man named Moses.  The Lord chose Moses to be His voice on earth and lead the Israelites from Egypt.  Moses was an excellent choice to be the leader of the Hebrews in Egypt because he had felt the injustices of Pharaoh since the day he was born.  Pharaoh had set a law in Egypt which was "Every son born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live." ( Exodus 1:22 ).  Three weeks after his birth in hiding, Moses was cast into the Nile by his mother, but not with the intent of death.  " ...she took for him a basket made of bull rushes, and daubed it with bitumen and pitch; and she put the child in it and placed it among the reeds at the river's brink. " ( Exodus
2: 3 ).  Moses survived by the goodness of God and, when Moses was old enough, God appointed him to lead the Hebrews from Egypt and the evils of Pharaoh.
The coming of God to Moses occurred on Horeb, the mountain of the Lord.  "... the angel of the Lord appeared to [ Moses ] in the flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and lo, the bush was burning yet it was not consumed. " ( Exodus 3: 2 ).  This inexhaustion of the bush was a miracle of God but Moses was afraid, so he turned away.  " When the Lord saw that he had turned aside . . .  God called to him out of the bush ‘ Moses, Moses! ' and he said ‘Here am   I! ' Then He said, ‘ Do not come near; put off your shoes from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. " ( Exodus 3: 4 ).  Moses listened attentively to his Lord on the mountain Horeb.
Once Moses understood what the Lord wanted him to do, he was filled with self - doubt.  " Oh, my Lord, send, I pray, some other person. " ( Exodus 4: 13 ).  Despite this, the Lord had faith in Moses and was prepared to help him on his journey.  " Is there not Aaron, your brother . . . ? I know he can speak well . . .  he shall speak for you t...
