1.) Setting The Outcast of Redwall has an imaginative and wondrous setting. Filled with fantasy and adventure, it spans several years of a Badger Lord’s life as he grows to adult-hood and takes his place at the throne of Salamandastron, a great fortress built into the mountain of an extinct volcano. The story is filled with a wide variety of landscapes, from endless wastelands to deep thickened woods of beauty to the enchanted halls of a lonesome abbey constructed of red stone, Redwall. The Badger Lord must face many obstacles as he makes his journey across the wild, lawless lands where trust is hard earned and enemies are easily found and made. From the savaged lands of merciless Sea Rats to the peaceful lands of the Mossflower Wood to the war ravaged lands of the Gorge of Foxes, this story is far spanned and a delight to read. 2.) Plot The plot of this story is quite large yet small at the same time. The story starts out with the Villain Swartt Sixclaw, a large and strong ferret, and his band of vermin with their prized captive; a large badger named Sunflash. With the assistance of a hawk named Skarlath, who was to be Swartt's breakfast, he and Sunflash escape. During the escape, Sunflash smashes Swartt's left, six-digit claw and seeking revenge Swartt pursues Sunflash for the next few years across the country. During pursuit Swartt loses most of his followers to Sunflash's sneak attacks on their camp at night, he is then forced to find his old master, assassinate him, and take over his horde for more followers. Sunflash is driven over these years west and south to the legendary Badger Lord fortress of Salamandastron, unfortunately Swartt knows of these plans and leads his horde there ...
