To Kill A Mockingbird

In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, the author Harper Lee uses the symbol of the mockingbird to show that some people are fundamentally good inside and add beauty to the world around them. The blue jay is noisy while the mocking bird has a beautiful song and it is a pleasure to listen to one. It would be a sin to kill something that contributes beauty to the world.  Atticus, Boo and Tom also have a basic good soul to them that leads them to put themselves at risk for the sake of what they believe is right.  Harper Lee uses a mockingbird to symbolize this human goodness.  

Boo shows that he has inner beauty like a mockingbird in lots of ways.  He shows this by saving Jam and Scout from Mr. Ewell.  This example shows that Boo is brave and caring.  He is willing to risk his own life to save another's.  It also shows that he is quick-thinking.  These are good characteristics of his nature that make him like a mockingbird.
