Ladies and Gentlemen as you all probably know I am here to speak of animal testing and discourage the use of animals in unnecessary research done by United States and other countries. There are many new advancements in technology which could replace the old methods and offer new alternatives. Alternatives are “methods which refine existing tests by minimizing animal distress, reduce the number of animals necessary for an experiment or replace whole- animal use with in vitro or other tests”. The use of animal testing has been dated back to ancient Greece. In ancient times scientists learned about swallowing and studied the heart by cutting open the throat of living pigs. Physicians and researchers used animals testing to increase their knowledge in biology which the study of the body. The knowledge they received improved their surgical skills. This is only a fraction of the many rules and laws writing by the Untied States, which I am certain, that one person won’t understand it. To combat the use of animal testing several alternatives have been introduced to ease animal suffrage as well as reduce the number of animals used in an experiment. Some new alternatives methods are being used like: The cell culture methods to detect a chemical’s ability to cause birth defects In Vivo replacement for the use of rabbits and crabs in bacterial contamination testing In Vitro alternatives for the Draize Eye Test Microt...
