The Latvian-Russian Relations

Everybody wants to be free, make their own decisions, be able to communicate freely, and most important, be in charge of their lives. However, sometimes it is not up to the individual persons to decide. I was born in Latvia when it was still under communist rule. I and my family, same as many other Latvians have seen and experienced what life is like under communistic form of government, being a prisoner in your own country.  Communism is a one way street that we had to follow no matter how hard it was. It is a dictatorship where you are told from the top how and what to do, and how everything is going to be. Can you call that a communication?      In order to understand the current position of Latvia, it is necessary to know it's basic history.  December 25, 1991 is marked as the fall of the Soviet Era. This victory for Latvia and Latvian people did not come easy.  Latvia was a free country until 1940, when the Soviet Union annexed the all three of the Baltic States. (Kirckus, 1)  Those fifty years were especially hard for those who lived through this drastic change and deep down in their hearts believed ...
