Advantages to this alternate calendar definitely outweigh the disadvantages. Summer break is important, but sometimes it is too long. When students are out of school for months at a time, they do tend to forget some details they should remember. With this alternate calendar, school would be out a maximum of 6-8 weeks; that being summer vacation. The students would retain much more knowledge during this shorter break, causing teachers to spend less time reviewing previously studied material the following school year. Another way this year around schooling is advantageous is it provides more time for students to gain knowledge and interact with peers; leading to improved social skills. Many people often confuse the term “year around school” with pure, 365 days a year schooling. However, this is not the case.
