A Field in a Dream
The day was hot; not a cloud in the sky, the air could NOT be any
calmer.  The
sun beat down on the freshly cut field. It was my last home game of my
senior year. I walk out to the football field to feel it's potential and
its
softness.  The field runs north and south.  It is right in the middle of
two
mountains in a valley.  There is a big white "PV" on the face of the
mountain to the north.  To the east of the field is an open country
field,
with cows.  The cows nested right next to the fence by the football
field,
watching the teams warm up.  There are white lines on the football field
that mark the boundaries and end zones.   To the west of the field are
the
stands for all the Plateau Valley Cowboy fans sit and cheer us on.  With
a
little old, white, shed just to the right that contains all the
refreshments
for all the out lookers.   The parking lot on the backside of the stands

yellow
with black numbers, to remind the players what yard line there on.  At
each
goal line there was a bright orange square pad that marked the
destination
that you had to reach in order to triumph.  To the north stood right off
the
track stood the old blue scoreboard. This scoreboard has seen its days.
Some lights don't even work and some of the white letters are faded.

There were many places were the team could get focused up and
ready for the
game.  I had a certain routine. Every home game I would come to the
school
at least three hours before the game would start.  I would park my
little
red mobile TYPE OF CAR MIGHT BE A GOOD DETAIL TO ADDat the end of the
empty parking lot, were the basketball courts
are.   Around the school was the locker room filled with ugly gray
lockers,
and helmets and shoulder pads that were on the hangers.  The stench in
that locker room reeked like two-week-old sweat and bad BO.  You can
only stay in that locker room for so long. Then you have to leave
because you can't stand the ...
