Searching out success

You are standing outside waiting for some friends on a Friday night
watching the cars pass.  You watch a small sports car go speeding by.  Behind the
wheel is a petite woman dressed in a “power suit.”  She is talking on a cellular
phone and the strain of her day is distinctly shown on her face.  Soon after
another, more average, car goes by.  Driving this one is a man dressed in casual
clothes.  He is intently listening to his two children who are seated in the back.
Now, here is my question, which one is more successful?
Well, before you answer let us get a little more information as things are
not always as obvious as they seem.  If we follow the woman home we end up at
an apartment building just outside the city.  She walks up a few flights of stairs to
a small suite.  When she opens the door there is no one there to greet her.  She

money, but she is not happy.  She has no one to share anything with, no
husband, no kids, not even a pet.  She has always been too busy working to ever
settle down and have a family.  She enjoys her work and has very few regrets in
her life.  However, she does have one.  She always wanted a family.  It was
something she dreamed of since she was young.

Let us now go back to our dad driving with his two kids.  We follow him
to the local YMCA where he is a volunteer basketball coach for his little girls’
team.  He practices for one hour with his team.  Then they all pile back into the
car and head home.  Home, is an average sized house in a nice neighborhood.
They enter the house where he greets his wife with a kiss and picks up his son
who is only a toddler. Soon after the family sits down to dinner together where
they discuss the events of the day.  Afterwards the older children disappear into
their rooms to finish homework assignments, and Mom and Dad do the dishes
together.  This man is an architect and his wife is a teacher.  They have
everything they want in life, a home, a beautiful family, and careers they enjoy.
Now, back to our question.  Which one is more successful?  For tho...
