In today’s society looking good is not only important but it is a must, especially to college and high school students. Students spend an abundant of money on clothes, shoes, and numerous items to try to fit into the cliques and groups at school. A company who understands this is the Nike Corporation. Nike jacks up their price because they know that their product is in high demand. It is in high demand for a good reason; Nike shoes and product are one of the best qualities there is in the market today. Their products may among one of the best but the way they manufacture it is very disagreeable to a lot of people.  
     Among one of the problem that has come up in manufacturing Nike products is child labor. Children as young as the age of 10 is hired to work in the factories. These kids should be concentrating in school instead of working in factories. It is known that Nike has taken them out of working in the rice paddy fields and has gives them regular pay. When they worked in the paddy fields they would only get paid a few times a year during harvest seasons.  But in consideration of the way they are treated in the factories, it does not compare to way they were working in the paddy fields. The children work for as long as 16 hours a day and get paid as low as 20 cents an hour. The children are also abused not only physically but also sexually. The lucky ones only get abused physically. These kids are not only physically scarred but they are scarred emotionally also.
     Adult workers get twice as hard labor as the children. Vietnam’s minimum wage is $45 a month but the workers only get $42. Regular workers get even less. An argument that Nike could use is that the workers get free training, free English lessons and Medical Care. But in truth factory workers do not receive English lessons or training classes.
