In the beginning of the First Crusade, three organized armies marched
across Europe to Constantinople.  These armies consisted of people
called crusaders.  They wanted to pass through Constantinople and settle
in the Holy Land.  As the crusaders settled in the Holy Land, they also
slaughtered the Muslim inhabitants.  Our jobs as representatives was try
to prevent this war over the Holy Land from happening.  As
representatives, we looked at the opposing ideas of the different people
in Europe and the Middle East.  These people are of the knights,
merchants, Pope, Muslims, serfs, debtors, criminals, nobles, and the
Byzantines.  Then we came up with a solution that the representatives
felt benefited all of the groups fairly.  War was not an option.

of the cities they took over.  This included Christians, Jews and
Muslims.  During this period of time in the crusades, the knights wanted
to gain land.  If this was not possible, physical force would have to be
used in order for them to get what they wanted.

goods in the Holy Land.

the Holy Land from the Muslims, especially Jerusalem.  This was because
the Holy Land was where Jesus Christ lived and taught Christianity.
Pope Urban II also wanted to convert the nonbelievers in the Holy Land.
The Muslims wanted to keep the Holy Land because they have been there
for 500 years.  The Muslims can tolerate living with people of other
religions but those people would have to pay taxes so that they could
practice their religion openly.  Muslims also wanted to spread their
Islamic faith.
Serfs during this period of time worked very hard on the manor.  Because
of this, they thought that they deserved a new life in the Holy Land.
They wanted to have an ample amount of land that they could work.  But,
they did not want to work for the nobles, they wanted to work for
themselves.
The debtors were people that owed money to the nobles.  They decided to
pay the nobles by fighting in the crusades with them.  Criminals also
had to fight in the crusades in order to redeem themselves fro...
