     The evening was chilly, and I could feel goose bumps forming on my arms as my friends and I stood outside the ‘Power Bar’ nightclub.  We had already been waiting in line for almost half an hour, and I was beginning to get impatient.  This was my nightclub debut, and I was eager to get my first taste of the scenery.
     Upon entering the club, I noticed two very tall bouncers guarding the stairs that led up to the bar and dance floor.   As I innocently proceeded to walk up the staircase, I was brought to an abrupt halt by the female guard.  I was shocked and slightly offended when she checked my companions and I for weapons, before allowing us to continue up to the bar.  My friends reassured me however, that this frisking was a necessary routine at all clubs.
     The club was dimly lit, and very crowded.  The walls were covered in abstract pastel colored murals, which created a whimsical atmosphere in the room.  I decided to stand by the bar so I could scan the crowd.   The majority of the people were relatively young, but to my surprise, I noticed a few people who were undoubtedly in the thirty-something age group.   There was one such man standing a few feet away from me, who looked particularly out of place.  He was a scrawny man and looked as if he was drowning amidst his vinyl and polyester attire.   And as I watched the crowd through the thick clouds of smoke I hoped that this tiny man, who was now staring at me very intensely, would maintain his distance from me.   Unfortunately however, he did not sense my hostility and very boldly began to hover over me like a pestering mosquito.   The foul, unidentifiable stench radiating from his mouth distracted m...
