GNA INCORPORATION
Introduction
GNA is an engineering consulting firm that provides electrical, and mechanical engineering services as well as CAD (Computer Aided Design) services to major Corporations in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. GNA Inc. is located in New York City and occupies a relatively small office space. The firm employs forty people consisting of engineers, project managers, office personnel and management. A 1/3 of the employees work in the office and 2/3 consult at client’s offices throughout the city. Due to tremendous demand for engineering services in the city, the firm is expanding rapidly. The current peer-to-peer network can no longer respond to the firm’s increasing information technology needs.
The firm currently uses a peer-to-peer network. Employees manage access to their printer and data. Employees have no means to send electronic messages in the office and access to the Internet is limited to the management staff.
The firm wants to create and implement a Local Area Network (LAN) network that would meet its new information system needs
Objectives
This project will create a new network with the following goals:
· Provide reliability
· Better resource management (i.e. printers, modems, hard disk space, etc), performance
· Comprehensive security management
· User management
· Audit Trail
· Network monitoring
· Remote access service to employees in the field
