Initial Response
     In the book Go Ask Alice I am taken into a world and to experiences I have never experienced, or been exposed to before. It is a diary of a girl my age, experiencing drugs, sex, and the reality checks. She took a glass of Coca-Cola laced with LSD, and was hook on drugs from then on. It caused her to run away from home several times, loses jobs, friends, her virginity, self-worth and eventually, her life. Just the fact that she lived through so many things like that really made me think “Am I at risk to all of these things? Could it happen to me? If I was faced with the so-called “opportunities” she was, would I take them, or be strong and sensible enough to say no”?
     But her drug problem wasn’t even her fault! She thought she was drinking an average Coca-Cola, something I do on a weekly basis, but it had been laced with LSD and BM there goes her life! It’s all downhill from there! If that’s how easy it is to ruin everything than life IS a lemon and I want my money back! And even when she did try to get off it, it followed her everywhere. People set her up, they wouldn’t leave her alone, and she kept having flashbacks.  It’s not fair. Something she had NO control over took her life.  I know life is not fair, but I believe this goes above and beyond that.  But yet it happens to millions of people. Not just young people and junkies, but every type of person there is. We all know what it does, and what to do to prevent it, we just don’t. And why not? Well most claim it was stress, or peer pressure, but not with Alice! They literally murdered her. And just when she has won emotionally, she fails physically. Like I said. I don’t think it’s fair.
Summary
      The book Go Ask Alice is the two diaries of a girl who is a good student, and an all around good girl, to becoming a drug addict and a runaway.  She isn’t very popular and the beginning of the book.  She was very excited when she got a date with a boy she had a crush on. But he ended up being a jerk and he stood her up. At school she wasn’t a total loser or anything, she was just Alice, a wallflower.  For a while, in an attempt to improve her popularity, she dieted, thinking if she were skinnier she would be more beautiful, and would be more popular.
