Robert Hooke

     
     Robert Hooke was born on July 18, 1635 in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, Britian and died
on March 3, 1703 in London. He was 68 years old when he died. His father's name was John
Hooke. John was a cleric and a minister too. Robert Hooke was a British philosopher.Early in
his life Hooke developed a skill in mechanics that let him invent and fix a number of things.
This kind of skill influenced him a great deal in the many fields of work . Hooke went to Oxford
University majoring in to be a scientist. He  became an assistant to Robert Boyle. There Hooke
improved the air pump which made Boyle develop the Boyle gas law. Hooke also made
improvements in the chronometer, which led to the discovery of elasticity( stretching of a solid
body is proportional to the force applied to it).

     Hooke's friends in Oxford University made the center of the new Royal Society in
London. Hooke's friends appointed him runner of the experiments. Over the next 15 years,
Hooke's demonstrations, experiments, etc., led or was a big factor to the survival of that time.
Hooke was also a geometry professor at Gresham college in London.

     In a book written in 1665 called Small Drawing, Hooke wrote how microscopes will be
useful in biology. He also wrote that so many people are using the word "CELL" today and
initiated the study of an insect's body. One other thing he wrote was that...
